Corteno Golgi (Italy). On 18 and 19 May 2025, the Postulants of the Postulate of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Community Mary Most Holy Consoler of Turin animated two days in Corteno Golgi, Brescia, birthplace of Blessed Sister Maria Troncatti, and at Aprica, the neighboring town, in the province of Sondrio.

The Postulants, together with their assistant, Sister Patrizia Colombo, were invited by the Vicar of the Lombardy Holy Family Province (ILO), Sister Marisa Canobbio, to collaborate in making known through activities the witness of the life and faith of the Blessed.

In addition to the initiatives with children and young people from both towns, Sister Marisa had the opportunity to meet the local associations and the Pastoral Council, also in view of the events that will be held in Corteno on the 23, 24, and 25 August, anniversary of the birth into Heaven, organized by the ILO Province in collaboration with the territory, addressed to the citizenry, but also to FMA, young people, and families from different parts of Italy.

The Postulants recount:

“From the beginning, we felt welcomed with warmth, affection, and simplicity by her relatives and all the people we met. We visited the  house of her birth, the land that Sister Maria cultivated together with her family, and we retraced the same path that she, as a child, used to go from the village of Corteno to the hut in the mountains, where the gaze sweeps through snow-covered mountains, green meadows, and infinity inviting the heart to praise God.

To make known the personality of Sister Maria, her love for God, her missionary zeal and motherhood, we prepared games and meetings for all age groups (elementary, middle, high school, university, and adults). We also lived a Via Lucis in the streets of the town, together with the Confirmands, and animated the Holy Mass.

The desire to meet, both on our part and on the part of the people, was strong and we felt welcomed in an atmosphere of familiarity, simplicity, and joy.

Seeing how the town is moving to make Sister Maria more and more known,  also through  the valorization of places, makes us taste with great enthusiasm how the good is able to generate more good!

Our heart is filled with joy and gratitude towards God and the people we met, for having had the opportunity to visit these places of holiness, deepening the figure of Sister Maria through the living witness of her people.

In this time, when wars continue and hope is at risk of being stifled, through the intercession of Sister Maria Troncatti, artisan of peace and reconciliation, we pray for the cessation of conflicts and we commit ourselves to be peacemakers in our daily lives!”.
