Rome (Italy). The Commission for liturgical spiritual history, set up in view of the Canonization of Sister Maria Troncatti (1883-1969), has elaborated an itinerary to get to know better the figure of the Blessed, her message and her actuality – starting from the slogan, “Mother, missionary, artisan of peace and reconciliation” – with a video and a note for further reflection proposed on the 25th of each month, in memory of her birth into heaven.
In the third video, we deepen the origins of the Blessed through some testimonies from her native land, Corteno Golgi, a small village of two thousand inhabitants in Val Camonica in the province of Brescia in Lombardy, where Sister Maria Benvenuta Troncatti – this is her baptismal name – was born on 16 February 1883.
Alternating with testimonies are the mayor of Corteno, “a small mountain village that has given so much to communities around the world because our blessed Maria Troncatti crossed the ocean;” the parish priest, convinced that the event of the Canonization will be for the community the occasion to discover the beauty of the faith and to arouse new vocations; the niece of Lucia, sister of the Blessed; the niece of Giacomo, the brother of Sister Maria; the grandson of Lucia Bianchi, Sister Maria’s great-grandnephew; other great-grandnephews/nieces, and people of the town who proudly recount the memories kept as a precious treasure, so that they may become the patrimony of everyone.
The material is offered to be used, expanded, and adapted to contexts to promote knowledge of the figure of Sister Maria Troncatti in the educating communities, among young people, in the local Church, and in the territory of belonging. The module is edited by Sister Eliane Petri and a group of FMA of the Spirituality Course of Casa Madre Canta.
