Oxford (Grande-Bretagne).<\/strong> Le 19 octobre 2024, les Filles de Marie Auxiliatrice de la Province St Thomas de Canterbury<\/em> (GBR), les Coop\u00e9rants Sal\u00e9siens, le personnel, les \u00e9tudiants, les familles, les paroissiens et les amis se sont r\u00e9unis \u00e0 l\u2019Eglise paroissiale Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice<\/em> d\u2019Oxford afin de c\u00e9l\u00e9brer le 100\u00e8me<\/sup> anniversaire de l\u2019arriv\u00e9e des FMA.<\/p>\n

C\u2019est le 22 octobre 1924<\/strong> que les trois premi\u00e8res s\u0153urs sal\u00e9siennes, avec M\u00e8re Avio, la M\u00e8re Provinciale, sont arriv\u00e9es \u00e0 Elmthorpe, Cowley, un quartier d\u2019Oxford.<\/p>\n

La Sainte Messe \u2013 pr\u00e9sid\u00e9e par l\u2019Archev\u00eaque de Birmingham, Mgr Bernard Longley, et conc\u00e9l\u00e9br\u00e9e par le cur\u00e9 de la paroisse, dom Harry Curtis, le P\u00e8re Provincial des Sal\u00e9siens de Dom Bosco, dom Gerry Briody, par des SDB, des J\u00e9suites, des Franciscains et d\u2019autres pr\u00eatres du Dioc\u00e8se \u2013 a commenc\u00e9 par une bougie apport\u00e9e \u00e0 l\u2019autel pour repr\u00e9senter la lumi\u00e8re pr\u00e9sente d\u00e8s la premi\u00e8re arriv\u00e9e des s\u0153urs \u00e0 Cowley.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s l\u2019hom\u00e9lie, les FMA ont renouvel\u00e9 leurs v\u0153ux religieux et ont pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019offertoire les symboles du travail des s\u0153urs \u00e0 Cowley depuis 1924. L\u2019animation musicale a \u00e9t\u00e9 soign\u00e9e par la paroisse et les \u00e9l\u00e8ves de l\u2019Ecole primaire Notre-Dame se sont produits avec la chorale.<\/p>\n

Lorsque la maison a \u00e9t\u00e9 inaugur\u00e9e en 1924, elle \u00e9tait principalement un lieu de formation, avec le Noviciat des FMA, mais au fil des ans, elle a chang\u00e9 de destinations en fonction des circonstances. En peu de temps, les s\u0153urs ont pu assister les enfants lors des activit\u00e9s paroissiales, ouvrir une \u00e9cole primaire priv\u00e9e, lancer un oratoire, donner des cours de cat\u00e9chisme aux enfants des \u00e9coles non catholiques, ouvrir des cours de couture, g\u00e9rer des initiatives et des associations.<\/p>\n

En 1930, l\u2019Ecole Notre-Dame<\/em> a \u00e9t\u00e9 inaugur\u00e9e, toujours florissante aujourd\u2019hui, bas\u00e9e sur de solides principes sal\u00e9siens. Aujourd\u2019hui, la mission principale d\u2019Elmthorpe est d\u2019assister les s\u0153urs \u00e2g\u00e9es et l\u2019Ev\u00eaque Longley a visit\u00e9 et b\u00e9ni chacune d\u2019entre elles.<\/p>\n

Apr\u00e8s la c\u00e9l\u00e9bration de la Messe, tout le monde a \u00e9t\u00e9 invit\u00e9 au Centre Mornese pour un repas buffet, avec la possibilit\u00e9 de rencontrer de vieux amis et d\u2019en conna\u00eetre de nouveaux, tout en profitant du soleil d\u2019un mois d\u2019octobre inhabituel pour le Royaume Uni.<\/p>\n

Avec gratitude pour ces 100 ans de pr\u00e9sence \u00e0 Cowley, pour la pr\u00e9sence continue de Marie qui marche avec la Communaut\u00e9 Educative et avec tous ceux qui entrent dans la Maison, les FMA vont \u00e0 la rencontre de l\u2019avenir, avec la certitude que la Vierge continuera \u00e0 les accompagner pendant les 100 prochaines ann\u00e9es.<\/p>\n
