Lubumbashi (RD Congo). <\/strong>On 5 June 2022, on the occasion of the International Day of the Environment, the Ecology Commission of the Superior Institute of Arts and Crafts Mary Help of Christians<\/em> (ISAMM) of Lubumbashi, of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Bl. Laura Vicu\u00f1a<\/em> Community of O. L. of Africa Province (AFC) organized an ecological day.<\/p>\n

A group of students traveled to Lubumbashi’s Karavia market area to carry out cleaning, waste removal and awareness raising activities about climate change and environmental issues.<\/p>\n

To respond to the requests of Pope Francis in the Encyclical Laudato Si’ and join the global journey towards integral ecology, on 12 April 2022, ISAMM created a Commission for Ecology consisting of three members of the Institution and a delegation of students, coordinated by the General Director, Sr. Albertine Cikomba, with the task of organizing the activities and structuring the scholastic path of study and commitment in favor of the environment.<\/p>\n

The Ecology Commission thus began an environmental awareness<\/strong> program based on the seven Laudato Si\u2019 objectives<\/a><\/span>, which guide personal and community actions, rebuilding and redefining relationships between people and the common home.<\/p>\n

The team has also planned a series of ecological activities<\/strong>, including the enhancement of the courtyard and the planting of trees within the area of the Institute, in addition to the celebration of the days dedicated to the environment, such as that of 5 June, with initiatives both inside and outside the school area.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon’t think that these efforts won’t change the world. These actions spread a good in society that always produces fruits beyond what can be seen, because they cause a good in the womb of this earth that always tends to spread, sometimes invisibly\u201d <\/em><\/strong>(LS 212).<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n\r\n
