(Philippines). <\/strong>On 30 July 2021, on the occasion of the World Day Against Human Trafficking, the LVF 2021<\/strong> Online Congress was held, organized by the \u00a0Laura Vicu\u00f1a<\/a> Foundation, in partnership between the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians Bosco and lay professionals\/collaborators to address the needs and problems of street children, in St. Mary D. Mazzarello<\/em> Province (FIL), on the theme: “Fighting against human trafficking.”\u00a0 <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The Congress was attended by more than 200 families belonging to the communities of the Foundation, who welcome and accompany children and women towards autonomy: Napindan Taguig of Brgy, Judge Jimenez, Marikina, Culiat, Bacood, Botocan, Hillcrest, Pinagkaisahan of Brgy, LVC and CPC of Manila Sta Mesa.<\/p>\n

Sr. Maria Victoria Santa Ana, FMA, Administrative Delegate\u00a0 of the Laura Vicu\u00f1a Foundation<\/em>, led the Congress as speaker and moderator together with Mrs. Carla Juncia, Registered Social Worker (RSW).<\/p>\n

Ms. Juncia recalled the objectives of the Congress and presented the nature of human trafficking, the places and reasons for the phenomenon of trafficking, and some concrete situations.<\/p>\n

Human Trafficking\u00a0 is a reality that mainly affects vulnerable people and the poor. For this, the collaboration and commitment of government institutions, communities, educational agencies, and NGOs are necessary to combat human trafficking.<\/p>\n

Sr. Maria Victoria involved the participants in a discussion forum, raising questions and highlighting the challenges to be faced. A climate of trust has been created, with the possibility of sharing one’s opinions and family experiences. The situation of poverty has emerged for families who are unable to ensure education and safety for their children.<\/em><\/p>\n

The condition of economic hardship exposes children and young people to greater risks. Participants were guided to propose possible solutions to the poverty they face.<\/p>\n

It was emphasized that families play a fundamental role in promoting the culture of child protection. Respect for human dignity begins at home, which is why the family and the community are important places of change.<\/p>\n
