Rome (Italy). <\/strong>On October 17, 2020, the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty is celebrated, launched in 1992 by the United Nations, on the theme: “Acting together to achieve social and environmental justice for all”.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The day is a precious time to recognize the efforts and difficulties of those living in poverty and whose rights are not respected: lack of work or dangerous working conditions, unsafe housing, lack of nutritious food, limited access to health assistance.<\/p>\n

The Voluntary Youth and Solidarity Foundation (FVGS) ONLUS<\/strong><\/a>, <\/strong>which supports the Missions of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians in the world and promotes remote development and support projects, in response to Covid-19 in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, has activated a project to support the families of the village of Siakago in Kenya<\/strong>, where the FMA of Mother Rosetta Marchese Community, of Our Lady of Hope Province of Africa (AFO) are present.<\/p>\n

The commitment of the FVGS Onlus is aimed at supporting the work of the FMA who reach children and families in poverty by distributing food, masks, soap, and educational material to them.<\/p>\n

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the state of poverty of millions of people who live on the street or in slums and do not have the resources to observe social distancing, to stay at home, to access adequate medical care, and to use the water required for proper hygiene.<\/p>\n

Many children do not have the technological means to be able to take lessons at home and continue their educational path. The meal they received at school was often the only meal of the day, and as a result the malnutrition of children is growing.<\/p>\n

It is necessary to guarantee families and adult communities favorable conditions and resources to support children in learning, play, and psycho-physical development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
