{"id":31979,"date":"2021-01-31T07:00:35","date_gmt":"2021-01-31T06:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/?p=31979"},"modified":"2020-10-22T17:15:43","modified_gmt":"2020-10-22T15:15:43","slug":"the-fma-respond-to-the-emergency-in-haiti","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/en\/humanitarian-emergencies-and-campaigns\/the-fma-respond-to-the-emergency-in-haiti\/","title":{"rendered":"The  FMA respond to the Emergency in HA\u00cfTI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>(Haiti). <\/strong>The communities of the FMA of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Province (HAI) live in the state of <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/u\/1\/folders\/18gFW3AXck4_FF9IReVWX65-WCSKLDdzz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Emergency in Ha\u00efti \u00a0<\/strong><\/a><\/span>due to\u00a0 tropical storm Laura which, in the night between 22 and 23 August 2020, hit Haiti causing enormous human and material losses.<\/p>\n<p>The Anse-\u00e0-Pitres Region, located in the south-east of the country, was among the most affected. The inhabitants have lost almost everything they owned, including gardens and animals. This situation makes them even more vulnerable, most of them are immigrants and refugees in Anse-\u00e0-Pitres.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-31968 alignright lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/tetto.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"368\" height=\"245\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/tetto.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/tetto-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/tetto-696x464.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/tetto-630x420.jpg 630w\" data-sizes=\"auto\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 368px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 368\/245;\" data-original-sizes=\"(max-width: 368px) 100vw, 368px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0 FMA house of St. John Paul II suffered considerable structural damage. The flood reached the house which was inundated, heavy rains and the wind swept away most of the tin roof of the School that the FMA manage. Students do not have an indoor environment, and are exposed to the sun or rain.<\/p>\n<p>Working in such precarious conditions involves many difficulties. Most of the students are children of immigrants, and families have suffered great material damage and many no longer have a home.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-31997 alignleft lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3-completa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"402\" height=\"268\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3-completa.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3-completa-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3-completa-696x464.jpg 696w, https:\/\/www.cgfmanet.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/3-completa-630x420.jpg 630w\" data-sizes=\"auto\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 402px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 402\/268;\" data-original-sizes=\"(max-width: 402px) 100vw, 402px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The FMA, continuing the mission of accompanying the poorest and most vulnerable classes,\u00a0 were able to sustain the students&#8217; families by providing daily kits with basic necessities to the school children and young people.<\/p>\n<p>The Anse-\u00e0-Pitres region has been in emergency for a long time, and the population continues to experience situations of hardship and suffering. It is necessary to intervene in many sectors of food, education, housing.<\/p>\n<p>However, the construction of a more solid, para-cyclonic roof and the purchase of furniture and school supplies (desks, benches, notebooks, pens, etc.) are urgently needed.
