Guwahati (India)<\/strong> In response to the invitation to solidarity of Pope Francis and at the encouragement of Mother Yvonne Reungoat, Superior General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, the FMA of the Indian Mother of the Church Province<\/em> (ING) of Guwahati entered into action together with Volunteers, Past Pupils, FMA, and Salesian Cooperators, in collaboration with the Salesians of Don Bosco, the dioceses, government and the civil authorities, to reach the categories of people most disadvantaged due to the Coronavirus emergency.<\/p>\n

The Provincial, Sr. Alphonsa Kurinsinkal, made an appeal to the Animators of the 36 Communities of the ING Province, asking them to pray for the sick and victims of this epidemic and to share their resources as much as possible with people in need.<\/p>\n

Present in 4 states of North-Eastern India (Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh) with 36 communities, the FMA reached about 25,000 families, to whom they distributed medicines, parcels with foodstuffs, disinfectants, masks sewn at home by FMA and Volunteers, and hygienic kits.<\/p>\n

The majority of beneficiaries of the aid are daily workers, bricklayers, and workers left without work, housewives, families living in the slums and villages of the interior of north-eastern India.<\/p>\n

In a video<\/a> summarizing the aid interventions carried out in these months of the Covid-19 pandemic, Sister Penny Rose Chinir, Dean of Auxilium College of Udalguri (Assam), illustrates the unitary process of solidarity that underlies the various campaigns and activities carried out by the communities of the ING Province to get close to the population.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
