Bangalore (India)<\/strong> To respond to the lack of basic necessities caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, the “Center for the development and empowerment of women” (CDEW<\/a>), a voluntary non-profit organization of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Sacred Heart of Jesus Province (INK), went into action to reach wage workers and daily migrant workers and their families in Bangalore, the fishermen of Thope and Puthiyathura, the poor of Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, and Kerala.<\/p>\n

With the support of Volunteers and other local Organizations, over 900 families were helped with food kits and basic necessities.<\/p>\n

The CDEW – which is committed to the overall development of marginalized women, children, and young people through development and empowerment processes on the fronts of the promotion of human rights, education, economic subsistence, health care, and the strengthening of decision-making capacity – sent the requests to all the Communities of the INK Province, which took action as was possible, to deal with the various emergencies in their vicinity.<\/p>\n

The FMA of the INK Province distributed 2,500 protective masks to people residing in Kaveri Nagar, Ulsoo, and migrants who have settled in Avalahall, Bandapura, Ramayya Colony, and other nearby villages. The beneficiaries were given a demonstration of the importance and correct use of the masks. They also supported 25 families from Avalahalli and Bandapura with food for one month, masks, and sanitizing cleaners.<\/p>\n

The CDEW, in collaboration with the FIDES association, supported 200 families in the colony of Ramayya and in the villages of Bandapura, Cheemasandra, and Kondaspura.<\/p>\n
