San Paolo (Brazil)<\/strong> \u00a0On April 22, 1500 protective masks against the Covid-19 pandemic were donated to the Department of Health of the city of Araras (Sao Paulo). The masks were produced by a group of volunteers made up of educators, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, seamstresses, and students of the sewing and cutting course offered by OSAF (Obra Salesiana de Apoio Fraterno). The volunteers are part of the VIDES-SP, of \u00a0Saint Catherine of Siena Province of San Paolo (BSP). A total of 1,800 masks have been made, 300 of which will be delivered, in collaboration with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (Vincentians), to the most needy families and the elderly of the rest home in the city.<\/p>\n

Present at the moment of official delivery to the town hall were (video<\/strong><\/a>): Mayor J\u00fanior Franco, Deputy Mayor Carleto Denardi, Health Secretary Itacil Luiz Zurita Filho, VIDES-SP Coordinator Alan Nardi, OSAF Educator Marilu Santos, and Sister Metka Kastelic FMA, who commented: \u201cWe have received the help of many people who have been involved in making the masks. Volunteering is good for others and also for ourselves, because we feel useful and contribute to society\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mayor Junior Franco underlined the importance of solidarity, especially in times of crisis like this: “Donations like this strengthen the participation of the citizens of Araras in solidarity initiatives and ensure that, in turn, they are ready to help those who need it most\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
