Rome (Italy)<\/strong> April 27, 2020 marks the 12th<\/sup> anniversary of the birth into Heaven of the Servant of God, Sister Antonietta B\u00f6hm<\/strong><\/a>, Daughter of Mary Help of Christians. Born on September 22, 1907 in Bottrop (Germany), a town in the north between Rhineland and Westphalia, Antonietta met the FMA in Essen-Borbeck and immediately expressed her desire to become a missionary.<\/p>\n

She was accepted into the FMA Institute on January 19, 1926 and made her novitiate in Nizza Monferrato (Asti). On 5 August\u00a0 1928, Sister Antonietta made her first profession. On the day of her Perpetual Profession, 5 August 1934, she received the news that she had been chosen as a missionary for Patagonia (Argentina). After the Pope’s blessing in Rome, she left for Latin America, where she lived for over 68 years, first in Argentina (1934-1965), then in Peru (1965-1969), and Mexico (1969-2008), where she was music teacher, nurse, vicar, animator, and provincial. She lived the last 30 years of her life in the \u2018Villa Spem\u2019 community of Coacalco, where she was vicar and animator.<\/p>\n

Sister Antonietta is remembered for her maternal goodness, her smiling face, and a particular mission linked to a statuette of Mary Help of Christians, which she received in 1973 from Sister Ersilia Crugnola, an Italian missionary who had been the animator of the Mexican Province (1941-1959), with the recommendation to \u2018make Her work\u2019. With this statue she blessed especially the sick and the people who trusted in her intercession and many experienced the extraordinary effectiveness of this blessing.<\/p>\n

Her apostolate also focuses on being a spiritual guide and on commitment to the poorest, especially children and young people. In 1985 she started the \u2018Obra Sabatina\u2019, a food distribution service for the poor that she personally continues until 2000.<\/p>\n

Sister Antonietta B\u00f6hm passed away on April 27, 2008, at the age of 100. In 2016, the process of life and virtues opens that leads her to become Servant of God. On May 7, 2017, with the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration in the Cathedral of the city of Cautitl\u00e1n (Mexico), the diocesan phase of the Beatification and Canonization process was opened of Sister Antonietta B\u00f6hm.<\/p>\n

On the remembrance of the 12th<\/sup> anniversary of her death, the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of the Mexican Province of Our Lady of Guadalupe (MME), made a commemorative video<\/strong> <\/a>in which they entrust the request to free humanity from the Covid-19 pandemic to the intercession of the Servant of God.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
