Rome (Italy).<\/strong> From 6 to 24 November 2025, 33 Daughters of Mary Help of Christians from around the world gathered in Rome, at the General House, for the formation meeting organized by the FMA Institute’s Administration Sector.<\/p>\n

The participants were 23 new Economers, 3 Economers present for an update; 3 FMAs who will begin their service in 2026; and 4 FMAs who collaborate with the Provincial Economer. The diversification of origin, culture, and experience has been for all, a great wealth that fostered a spirit of belonging and made us aware of the precious and delicate service entrusted to each within an Institute that responds to a global educational need.<\/p>\n

The chosen theme was, \u201cThe service of Economer, for a life-generating economy\u201d.<\/em><\/strong> For those who perform the service of bursar, it is important to keep in mind that the person must be at the center of the economy and that administration must be experienced and implemented as an act of love and loyalty to the mission. The proper administration of assets must benefit the life of the community, but it cannot fail to take into account the life and future of the mission.<\/p>\n

Throughout the meeting, the Gospel passage from the wedding at Cana – \u201cDo whatever He tells you\u201d<\/em> (Jn 2:5) – served as a guide. Like Mary, the Economer must also be a woman attentive to needs, fully embodied in the present, and prompt; \u201ca considerate woman who takes care of the happiness of others; a woman who lives a deep and responsible listening to grasp situations of need when \u2018wine\u2019, that is, the joy of love, is missing, and bring Christ, not in words but in service, in closeness, with compassion and tenderness.\u201d<\/em> (Cf. Pope Francis, Meeting with the Capitulars – 2021). Economers were therefore invited to experience the entire meeting in the attitude of: listening to the need, welcoming the miracle, acting with confidence to generate life.<\/p>\n

The formation days were coordinated by the General Councilor for Administration, Sister Ena Veral\u00eds Bola\u00f1os, with the Sector collaborators<\/strong> and were supported by the interventions of Dr. Francesca Romana Busnelli<\/strong>, occupational psychologist; Professor at the Pontifical Faculty of Educational Sciences Auxilium, Established Professor of General Pedagogy and Director of the Institute of Pedagogical Methodology of the Pontifical Salesian University. She was able to animate the group, facilitating all participants in getting to know each other, in feeling free to express themselves, to experience the importance of living serene and constructive relationships, and to grasp the continuity of the contents received from the different speakers.<\/p>\n

Particularly interesting and significant was the intervention of the Superior General, Mother Chiara Cazzuola<\/strong>, who spoke about Synodality and Service<\/em><\/strong>. She explained, \u201cI chose this theme because a provincial Economer is a consecrated woman, first and foremost a happy FMA, who experiences a delicate and important service in the Provincial community.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI speak of service, not power because, contrary to the logic of the world in which the economy governs, imposes, and programs crises, changes, and trends, for us FMA, the economy means the wise management and valorization of human and material and\/or financial resources at the service of the Charism. And it is never a solitary management, but always shared and synodal.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

During the days, Sister Grazia Loparco<\/strong>, the Institute’s historian and professor at the Auxilium Faculty; and Fr. Pascual Chavez<\/strong>, SDB, Rector Major Emeritus of the Salesian Congregation, also spoke, offering a charismatic reading of the topics covered.<\/p>\n

The in-depth analysis of the articles of the Constitutions, proposed by Sister Ena, as well as the precise and reasoned presentation of the procedures used by the Institute presented by the Secretary General, Sister Maria Luisa Nicastro<\/strong>, the reflection on Canon Law made by Sister Kasi\u0144ska Katarzyna<\/strong>, and the interventions of the Sisters of the Sector, favored reflection on the criteria and foundations of the service of the Economers, making them grow in the sense of belonging<\/em><\/p>\n

There were also some formative visits, such as the one to Borgo Laudato Si\u2019 <\/strong>in Castel Gandolfo, where participants were able to visit the Pontifical Gardens and learn about the beautiful reception, sustainability, and circular economy project dreamed of by Pope Francis and inaugurated by Pope Leo XIV; and the one to the Caritas Solidarity Emporium <\/strong>in Rome, where the solidarity distribution model and the tools adopted to combat food poverty in a large city like Rome were presented.<\/p>\n

Among the charismatic and ecclesiastical experiences, Sister Francesca Caggiano<\/strong>, Vice Postulator of the Causes of Saints, presented la exhibition dedicated to Saint Maria Troncatti<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, inaugurated in October on the occasion of her canonization. This was followed by a visit to the Don Bosco Museum<\/strong> in Rome, at the headquarters of the Salesian Congregation; participation in the Audience with Pope Leo XIV; and the celebration of the Jubilee<\/strong>, with the passage through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica. Also valuable were the \u201cGood Nights\u201d offered by some General Councilors at who were present at the Generalate.<\/p>\n

At the end of the formation days the evaluation took place, during which participants were able to thank each other, share their reflections, and recognize all the good they had received during the formation weeks. The meeting concluded with a special dinner inspired by the Wedding Feast at Cana. Special thanks were also extended to Sister Carla Castellino, Animator of\u00a0 Mary Help of Christians<\/em> Community of the General House, and to all the Sisters for the exquisite welcome they received.<\/p>\n

For many of the Economers present, the meeting then continued with the charismatic itinerary\u00a0 from 25 to 29 November\u00a0 to the places of the origins, with a visit to the\u00a0<\/strong>Museum delle Spedizioni Missionarie<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in Genoa inaugurated on 12 November, to Mornese (AL), Nizza Monferrato (AT), and Turin<\/strong>. At each stage, they had the opportunity to meet people and\/or learn about new formation,\u00a0 sustainability, and institute experiences. The visit to the Salesian places and the encounters were lived as a new call to renew the Charism and the mission, following in the footsteps of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello.<\/p>\n
