Brescia (Italy). <\/strong>On 23 November 2025, Santa Maria Troncatti gathered everyone in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta<\/em> in Brescia, Diocese of the Saint, for the Eucharistic Celebration of Thanksgiving for her Canonizzation<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Eucharist was presided over by the Bishop, Monsignor Pierantonio Tremolada, concelebrated by the Provincial of Saint Charles<\/em> Province (ILE), Fr. Roberto Dal Molin, and several Salesians, by the Postulator of the Salesian Family, Fr. Pierluigi Cameroni, by the parish priest of Corteno Golgi, Fr. Mauro Zambetti, and by diocesan priests. Present were the Superior General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, the Provincial of\u00a0 Holy Family<\/em> Province (ILO), Sister Stefania Saccuman and her Council; the Deputy Postulator, Sister Francesca Caggiano; the Mayor of Corteno, Giuseppino Lippi; and other authorities, the family and fellow citizens of the Saint, the Educating Community of Brescia, and numerous FMAs.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe emotion of seeing Mother bring the relic of Sister Mary to the presbytery was strong, because we all had the perception, strengthened by the words of our Bishop, that the sanctity of this simple countrywoman has gone around the world, saved a people, brought Jesus Christ wherever she passed, cured, healed, and cared for an entire people. Reflecting on her is truly a sense of how wonderful God is in accompanying His children on a journey of holiness if He finds correspondence, availability, generosity, and above all, a great boundless faith and trust in a person and\u00a0 it was for Sister Maria,<\/em>\u201d are the impressions of Sister Maria Teresa Nazzari, Animator of the Community of Brescia.<\/p>\n

In his homily, Bishop Tremolada spoke of Sister Maria Troncatti as a witness to God’s mercy, because she cared for weak people; as an artisan of peace, who defused hatred with meekness; and as a woman assiduous in prayer, that led her to self-offering. On the Sunday celebrating the Solemnity of Christ King of the Universe, he concluded by saying, “When a person is won over by the kingship of Christ, she becomes capable of loving like Him, ascends with Him to the cross, and shares sovereignty with Him. That’s what this Sister did in hiding, which now becomes a proclamation of her holiness.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Within the solemn and well-curated Celebration, where a choir of young people and Sisters filled the cathedral with melodies that lifted hearts, greetings and thanks followed one another from the Bishop to the ecclesial community and the Institute, from the Provincial, and from Mother Chiara. The visit to the exhibition <\/a><\/span><\/strong>dedicated to the Saint of Brescia, set up in the old Cathedral, concluded the morning with a crescendo of enthusiasm and interest.<\/p>\n

The day continued at the Mary Help of Christians School, where a simple aperitif had been set up in the courtyard for all the guests, the children and parents of the school, the Province group of the Past Pupils, and the large group of Corteno Golgi as well as many guests and the FMAs who reached Mother to celebrate and thank for the gift of Sister Maria Troncatti.<\/p>\n

Mother was thus able to share a fraternal moment with the Bishop, the Salesian Provincial, and the guests, including Sister Maria’s relatives, while the spacious children’s table welcomed everyone for a bag lunch.<\/p>\n

An important and significant experience was listening to Mother Chiara’s word in the chapel of the Community of Brescia. \u201cEach of us has our roots where we were born, where we grew up, and we always owe something to our family of origin, to the place that accompanied us, that gave birth to us, to the area where we grew up. Thinking of Saint Maria Troncatti, this figure of a woman emerges who embodied, enhanced, the best qualities and resources of the people of her town and of the Diocese of Brescia, where her Christian journey is embedded. This courage, this boldness, this resilience, as we would say today, she expresses in a very specific mission and giving priority to the small, the humble. Today we are called to take care of each other.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Mother recalled that \u201cThe Lord calls everyone to holiness. It is written in our Christian DNA, and also Salesian. Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello taught us this in everyday life.\u201d<\/em> She then addressed a few words to the children, recalling the example of Saint Dominic Savio and wishing them to let the Lord to do something great with each one. Everyone rejoiced and greatly appreciated her spontaneous and profound word, which highlighted the stupendous figure of the Saint.<\/p>\n

Sister Stefania gave Mother gifts, including an unpublished letter from Sister Maria Troncatti with the relic of a wooden splinter from Don Bosco’s bed, sent by her to her family in Nizza Monferrato on\u00a0 1 September 1922, with the story of her visit, together with the other missionaries, to Becchi, where the Founder was born. \u201cEverything was the object of great meditation for me. The Lord forms His saints not in golden palaces, in elegant living rooms, but in hovels where God reigns and love for God,\u201d <\/em>are her words.<\/p>\n

The pilgrimage of the missionaries continued in Turin and then in Valsalice, on the tomb of the then Venerable (Don Bosco), Fr. Rua, and Fr. Albera. \u201cAll the Missionaries went to hear Mass and to receive Holy Communion in the private chapel where the Venerable always celebrated in his illness. We visited his bedroom, his bed. How I prayed for everyone in visiting these holy places. And then we visited every workshop of every trade you can imagine. We also went to see the Royal Palace, the Church where the Holy Shroud is.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Sister Maria concludes the letter with affectionate greetings and recommendations to her loved ones. \u201cAll rejoice that I too am increasingly so and do not (want) to change my lot for the whole world!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the greetings and thanks, everyone returned home with immense joy in their hearts, such was the gratitude for the gift of this holiness that it will surely – as the Mother has repeatedly emphasized – have important repercussions in the hearts of those who have been brought closer to her fascinating. Everything was a gift and grace that the heart will cherish forever.<\/p>\n
