Zagabria (Croatia). <\/strong>On 4 November 2025, during the program Svijetli tragovi<\/em> (Footsteps of Light) broadcast by Croatian Catholic Radio, an episode dedicated to Saint Maria Troncatti was broadcast. This is a collaborative project between the Croatian Catholic Network and the Conference of Senior Superiors of Croatia, with the aim of reliving the memory of those who left luminous traces in the lives of those who knew them.<\/p>\n

The program aims to bring listeners closer to the lives of these great because humble people, who radiated a tireless dedication to God, and to demonstrate how their stories can be a source of inspiration for each person, for new and holy vocations, especially in the context of the new evangelization.<\/p>\n

The broadcast featured two Daughters of Mary Help of Christians from\u00a0 Mary Help of Christians<\/em> Province (SLC), Sister Marija Maja Dolenec from the Saint Mary Domenica Mazzarello<\/em> Community in Rijeka and Sister Zrinka Majstorovi\u0107, Animator of\u00a0 Saint Joseph<\/em> Community in Zagreb. The broadcast, hosted by editor Dalija Mock, was based precisely on the Saint’s life testimony and mission.<\/p>\n

Sister Maja and Sister Zrinka told radio listeners about her origins and family life in Corteno Golgi (BS), emphasizing how Providence accompanied and guided her since childhood, orienting her towards the choice that led her to holiness. They then talked about life on mission deeply marked by daily work, humble and sacrificed. Because of her maternal love and goodness towards all, she was an example of a consecrated woman, a collaborator of the Holy Spirit. Her spiritual strength manifested itself in concrete acts of love, often facing risks and dangers.<\/p>\n

The life of Saint Maria Troncatti is of great inspiration for the new evangelization, because it shows how daily life, even in the most difficult conditions, can be a space in which the Gospel can be witnessed. In an age when many young people are drawn to material possessions, her life recalls the importance of investing in eternal values.<\/p>\n

Saint Maria Troncatti also sends powerful messages to today’s religious, such as the importance of being consecrated to God not partially, but wholeheartedly, of reaching out to people, especially the wounded and children, and of experiencing the charism with freshness and creativity, adapting it to the reality of the mission.<\/p>\n

How did Sister Maria Troncatti: mother, missionary, and artisan of peace and reconciliation, make herself known to a young girl and, through her hands, to \u201clive\u201d in today’s time? What did an elderly nun, a missionary in Ecuador, say to a talented young girl, in an era marked by the generation gap?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

The answers lie in the heart and hands of student Sara \u0160vegovi\u0107, who has lived at Laura<\/em> University College in Zagreb, Croatia, for several years, where she studies at the Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. Sara, a very profound young woman, has transposed into an image the personal experience of her dialogue with Sister Maria Troncatti and the vision of her life and mission. The author’s description:<\/p>\n

“Maria Troncatti was a mother, a missionary, an artisan of peace and reconciliation. She did not trust in herself, but her gaze was always turned towards Jesus and our Mother, Mary. She said that only by looking at the cross did she find the strength to continue the work that had been entrusted to her. She was called the herald of the Gospel with the doctor’s bag and the rosary, but she always said that everything was thanks to Mary Help of Christians. For this reason, with one hand, she points to Her, while with the other she offers the rosary, the most powerful weapon against all evil, to the daughter of the Shuar tribal chief, whose life she had saved. With this gesture she gained their trust.<\/p>\n

With her other hand, the little girl tries to stop the tribal chief from an impending conflict with the settlers. In the village, everyone listens to what the chief says; he is the authority. Her gaze is turned towards heaven, towards Mary Help of Christians, and if his heart opens, many will follow his example and do the same; they will rely on Mary’s protection.<\/p>\n

On the other side, the colonists are also surprised, ready to attack, but they remain silent, observing what is happening, because Mary’s gaze reaches not only a certain type of people, but all those who trust in Her and who have an open heart. At no time does she point to herself, but she always guides us towards Jesus. Water flows from her cloak and turns into a waterfall, a symbol of living water, of which Jesus is the source. When we are in His grace and presence, we overcome every obstacle that arises.<\/p>\n

Maria Troncatti is seated on a donkey, symbolizing peace, but also perseverance in the mission entrusted to her. Like Mary, she took the first step into the unknown, but with faith in the Lord. Next to the donkey is her doctor’s bag, and a little girl from the village looks curiously inside, representing all the young women Maria Troncatti trained to become\u00a0 nurses.<\/p>\n

In front of them is a Chuquiraga flower, symbol of Ecuador, representing the pure love and resilience of the people of that land. Maria Troncatti is proclaimed a Saint as the first Sister of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians after Saint Mary Domenica Mazzarello. Mary Mazzarello was a spiritual mother to the girls, to the sisters. She always encouraged them, and she continues to follow us today with her intercession. She is depicted sitting on a rock near a waterfall, observing Maria Troncatti. She watches how she works for God, for the salvation of souls, and follows her with her prayers in Heaven.<\/p>\n

Maria Troncatti teaches us to transform prayer into action; grace received into works. Even if with fear, we must persevere in what God calls us to do, so that, after so many small steps, we can do the great one that will leave a trace in the world through which the Lord will be glorified.<\/p>\n

The background, a dark sky surrounded by lightning and storm, but still crossed by rays of light, depicts a quote from Maria Troncatti: The Lord does not leave us without rays of sunshine among the clouds and storms that sometimes surround us.<\/em> Thank you, young people, who despite everything, leave bright traces of hope and the future in the world!”<\/p>\n
