Vellore (India).<\/strong> On 10 October 2025, a record-breaking event on mass hemoglobin screening to raise awareness of anemia among women took place at the Auxilium College (Autonomous) in Vellore Katpadi, of St. Thomas the Apostle<\/em> Province (INM).<\/p>\n

The initiative was organized by the National Service Scheme (NSS), the voluntary community service of Auxilium College, to celebrate 50 years of service at the Institution<\/strong>, in collaboration with the Naruvi Hospitals of Vellore.<\/p>\n

With a \u201crecord-breaking\u201d participation of 3,500 students, women, teaching and non-teaching staff<\/strong>, the event constituted a fundamental stage in health awareness, establishing a new record in the India Book of Records and the Asia Book of Records<\/strong>, entities that celebrate exceptional feats, innovations, and cultural contributions.<\/p>\n

The event was opened by the Provincial of the Vellore District, in the presence of the President of the Naruvi Hospitals, the Mayor, and other important government officials, in addition to the representation of Auxilium College with the Secretary, Sister Mary Josephine Rani; the Principal, Sister Arokia Jayaceli; the Deputy Principal, Sister Amala Valarmathy; and Dr. Abi Beaulah, Deputy Assistant Principal. Dr. Amutha, NSS Program Officer, delivered the welcoming address and Ms. Gayathri delivered the acceptance speech.<\/p>\n

The interventions of Dr. B. Baranidharan, Deputy Director of Health Services of Vellore District, of Dr. A. Malar, Joint Regional Director \u2013 University Education, Vellore Region, and Dr. S. Vijayanand, NSS Coordinator, Thiruvalluvar University, highlighted the urgent need for anemia prevention and the importance of student involvement in the community.<\/p>\n

The Headmistress, Sister Arokia Jayaceli, highlighted that, “This record-breaking event is not just about numbers, but about empowering young women<\/strong> to take responsibility for their own health.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The mass screening conducted aimed to detect anemia at an early stage, raise awareness of nutritional health issues, and encourage preventive health practices among young women. This initiative is a source of pride for Auxilium College, which highlights the spirit of service, women’s empowerment, and health promotion. The event also highlighted the effectiveness of collaboration between academia, healthcare institutions, and civic bodies to achieve a common social goal.<\/p>\n

The Management expressed gratitude to all collaborators, sponsors, teachers, NSS volunteers, and students, whose participation and support made it a very successful event. The day ended with the announcement of the recognition of the Record by the representatives of the India Book of Records<\/a><\/span><\/strong> and of the Asia Book of Records<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, who have officially validated the result.<\/p>\n\r\n
