San Lorenzo (Paraguay).<\/strong> From 31 August\u00a0 to 4 September 2025, the Social Communication Team of the Americas (ECOSAM) met in San Lorenzo, Paraguay, at\u00a0 Casa Mornese, house for Spiritual Exercises of\u00a0 Saint Raffael Archangel<\/em> Province (PAR).<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by the General Councilor for Communication of the FMA Institute, Sister Maria Ausilia De Siena; the Conference Presidents, Sister Ala\u00edde Deretti (CIB) and Sister \u00c1ngeles Grassi (CICSAL), representing Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay; the Communication Coordinators of the Interprovincial Conferences of the Americas (CIB, CICSAL, CINAB, CIMAC, NAC); and two Provincial Coordinators of the CICSAL Conference.<\/p>\n

The main objective of the meeting was to evaluate the journey of the three-year period 2023-2025 and the results achieved and the challenges of the communication processes, as well as to develop the Strategic Planning for 2026-2028, projecting with hope and a sense of belonging of the educommunicative actions in communion with the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians.<\/p>\n

The value of creating a network lies in relationships <\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting, which began with lunch on August 31st<\/sup>, had an important moment of integration among the participants in the opening celebration, led by Sister Doris Jaimes, outgoing Coordinator of ECOSAM, together with the words of the General Councilor, who underlined the importance of thinking and working online, stating that \u201cthe value of the network lies in relationships, in the strength of communion.\u201d<\/em> She then guided the participants in identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the ECOSAM network, considering future prospects.<\/p>\n

The work continued with the analysis, in groups, of the evaluations carried out by each inter-provincial conference. The first day ended with the Eucharist, presided over by Fr. Severo Aquino, Salesian of Don Bosco, who also celebrated in the following days.<\/p>\n

Interprovincial coordinators: the strength of the network <\/strong><\/p>\n

On the second day, which began with a prayer dedicated to Sister Maria Troncatti, three formative conferences were held, which also involved the Provincial Communication coordinators of the other Provinces of the Americas online. Very important topics were addressed, such as cybersecurity, with Miguel \u00c1ngel Gaspar, President of the Foundation \u201cParaguay Ciberseguro\u201d, as well as very enriching sharing, such as the project \u201cSemillas de Mostaza\u201d (Mustard Seeds), presented by the Salesian, Samuel Gonzales; and the \u201cSalesian Bulletin\u201d, with the BS team of Argentina. In a short plenary, the online participants were also able to express their impressions and share reflections on the topics covered.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, the participants present revised the ECOSAM Regulation. Among the various points discussed, there emerged the\u00a0 need to make ECOSAM better known to Conference Presidents, Provincials, and Provincial Communications Coordinators, both with regard to the Regulations and the Strategic Planning. This aims to strengthen the sense of ownership so that ECOSAM can effectively carry out its mission.<\/p>\n

A dive into history that communicates <\/strong><\/p>\n

On 2 September <\/strong>the work left room for a moment of socialization, conviviality, and immersion in Paraguayan culture. The group had the opportunity to visit the capital, Asunci\u00f3n, and some of its tourist attractions: the Metropolitan Cathedral (1845), the Aristocratic Historic Center, a museum dedicated to the conservation and dissemination of the memory of the production of \u201cca\u00f1a paraguaya\u201d (1909), the Museum of Pharmacies Cathedral (1905), the Oratory of the Virgin of Asunci\u00f3n (Pante\u00f3n de los H\u00e9roes – 1863).<\/p>\n

In the late afternoon, the group briefly visited the FMA Formation House, where the Mother General, Sister Chiara Cazzuola, was also present. She inaugurated the \u201cSan Raffaele Arcangelo House of Memory\u201d, a space dedicated to the Salesian Charism, which will be part of the Itineraries of Project Missionary Spirituality (PEM), responsible for revisiting the beginnings of the FMA Institute in the Southern Cone.<\/p>\n

Evaluation, projections, and new coordination <\/strong><\/p>\n

On 3 September<\/strong>, after a prayer to the \u201cVirgin of Guadalupe, model of communication\u201d, the participants – in online connection with the other Conference Presidents unable to participate in person – took into consideration the ECOSAM Regulations. Subsequently, while the coordination team was working on the evaluation of the strategic planning in force and on planning for the next three years, the General Councilor and the Conference Presidents continued the connection to appoint the new Coordinator. The entire process took place in harmony and simplicity.<\/p>\n

At the end of the afternoon, the General Councilor for Communication thanked the current Coordinator, Sister Doris Jaimes of the Colombian Province Our Lady of the Rosary<\/em> of Chiquinquir\u00e1 (CBC), and announced Sister Gabriela Murgu\u00eda of the Mexican Province Our Lady of Guadalupe<\/em> (MME), as the new coordinator of ECOSAM for the three-year period 2026-2028.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After the thanks and bestowal of symbolic gifts, the date for the next in-person meeting was set, which will be held from 31 August to 4 September 2028, with the venue to be defined. To conclude the meeting, the Eucharistic Celebration was a thank you for the journey made by ECOSAM and the entrustment of the future journey.<\/p>\n

Some resonances <\/strong><\/p>\n

For Sr. Ala\u00edde Deretti<\/strong>, president of the CIB Conference, participating in the meeting was an opportunity to \u201cbe able to closely follow the path of ECOSAM, the process that is being carried out, and the responsibilities that fall to the Provincials and Presidents of the Conferences.\u201d<\/em> Knowing better the work carried out by ECOSAM, Sister Ala\u00edde thanked the Coordinator, Sister Doris, and the other members of the team. She also underlined the accompaniment of the General Councilor, Sister Ausilia De Siena, and concluded, \u201cThese days have been very beautiful, of greater mutual knowledge, of prayer and reflection, of sharing, but also of enlightenment on how to use social networks to spread good, and on the consequences of the improper use of digital means. I thank you for the entire journey and I nurture much hope for the future.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

For Sister \u00c1ngeles Grassi<\/strong>, President of the CICSAL Conference, “they were days of encounter, in which we were able to live the experience of fraternity, of prayer, of formation that opens us to question: How can we meet the reality of youth? What aspects should we take care of? And at the same time, how are the platforms means to bring us closer and share the experience of Jesus? These are questions that generate challenges, on which we must continue to work in a world where the digital prevails and it becomes even more necessary to have elements to accompany and be critical in regard to them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

For Sister Ausilia De Siena<\/strong>, \u201cthe value of building and preserving a network is, first of all, relational. The meaning of ECOSAM is not so much \u2018to do\u2019, but to create a space for sharing, common growth, and co-responsibility.<\/strong> Through discussion, collaboration, and mutual trust, we become more capable of transmitting authentic messages, consistent with our Charism. Our communication work is not just a technical task, but must increasingly become a living testimony of communion, service, and hope. In this perspective, we lived a beautiful and enriching experience, in an atmosphere of sincere familiarity, great joy, and serious and serene discussion, nourishing the communion that arises from the charism. Taking care of the internet is not a secondary commitment. It is an integral part of our mission.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
