Ljubljana (Slovenia).<\/strong> From 30 June to 4 July 2025, at Mary Help of Christians<\/em> House in Ljubljana, of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians of Mary Help of Christians<\/em> Province (SLC), there was an “international oratory”, the summer program in which children and young people met the Old Testament prophet Elijah.<\/p>\n

This summer oratory is special due to the international composition of both animators and participants. In fact, in addition to the Slovenian ones led by Ema and Kristina, lay workers with the FMA, there were five Polish animators from Warsaw, from the FMA Youth Center of Our Lady of Jasna G\u00f3ra<\/em> Province (PLJ).<\/p>\n

The experience is part of a long-term exchange between Sisters and young people from both Countries, which constitutes an enrichment for both sides. The young Poles know the work of the Slovenian FMA and the local Salesian Youth Ministry, as well as their peers and their culture, while young Slovenians will be able to do the same during the exchange in Warsaw in October 2025.<\/p>\n

The international group of animators is a resource for everyone in the oratory, including the children who, together with the rest of the group, speak English and are open to other cultures in the same faith. In addition to the Polish and Slovenian group, there was also a Japanese family and the Slovene FMA missionaries in Brazil, Sister Agata Kociper and Sister Metka Kastelic, who presented the Brazilian and Amazonian culture to the oratorians.<\/p>\n

Thus, through the story of the prophet Elijah, the participants became more aware of the fact that with baptism all have received the prophetic ministry, for which, as “modern prophets”, during this week, they are particularly engaged through small gestures of love: in simple prayers and catechesis, in creative workshops (bread making, bracelet making, etc.), during a day trip to the mountains near Ljubljana, visiting the Hospice nursing home, and playing simple games.<\/p>\n

The participants of the oratory summarized their impressions as follows:<\/p>\n

“I like the fact that we are all friends, that we are all believers, that we are together, and that we can speak in English with animators from other Countries.\u201d <\/em>(animator)<\/p>\n

“The thing that struck me most is that Elijah was very brave; he dared go to King Ahab. And that Elijah said to find a lamb and put it on the altar. Then came the fire that drank all the water.” <\/em>(child)<\/p>\n

“I liked the games and free time, but I would like to have a water game or a group game once in a while.” <\/em>(child)<\/p>\n

“I really like being in nature. Even if the sun is strong now, it reminds us of the great Light that warms us from within: the light of God.” (Sister Barbara Poredo\u0161)<\/em><\/p>\n\r\n
