Padova (Italy).<\/strong> From 19 to 28 June 2025, the Superior General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, and the General Councilors lived the Spiritual Exercises in Cesuna, in the province of Vicenza, and made a short visit to the Province of Triveneta St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello<\/em> (ITV). The slogan with which we wanted to underline the welcome visit in this jubilee year was, “Joyful in hope”.<\/p>\n

Upon their arrival at Mary Help of Christians<\/em> Provincial House of Padua on the morning of 19 June<\/strong>, they were welcomed by the FMA Community and, after a short tour of the House, they were accompanied by the Provincial, Sister Antonella Franchini, and the resident Councilors to the Basilica of St. Anthony to live a short jubilee pilgrimage. Upon their return to the house, a buffet lunch in the lounge provided for a simple and fraternal meeting with the Sisters of the community.<\/p>\n

The Provincial Secretary recounts, “Before leaving for Cesuna, there was still the possibility of a guided visit to the Baptistery of the Cathedral of Padua and a quick tour through the squares of the historic center. It was pleasant to walk with them and show the artistic beauties of the city. As we chatted, we had the opportunity to know them beyond the tasks they perform. After having accompanied them to our vacation house in Cesuna, we left them surrounded by the silence and beauty of the nature of the Asiago Plateau.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Returning from Cesuna on 27 June<\/strong>, Mother and the Councilors made a brief stop at the Mary Help of Christians<\/em> House in Montebelluna, where the summer oratory is taking place, and were able to immerse themselves in the lively pastoral life of this oratory, welcomed in the hall with joy by the children who sang the Hymn of the World Day of Children, “We are”, on the theme of hope. Going out into the courtyard, they were then invited by the Animator to join the circle with the children to dance with them the dance of summer.<\/p>\n

They were welcomed at Immacolata School of Conegliano for lunch, where the Community was very happy to live a family moment with them. In the early afternoon, they could not miss a visit to the nearby nursing home Mother Clelia Genghini<\/em>, to meet the older sisters. “To know and greet you personally is a beautiful opportunity, as well as being able to say thank you for your witness of life given,” <\/em>are Mother’s words.<\/p>\n

The prayer of Vespers in the Community of the Immaculate School was followed by a meeting in the theater hall with the neighboring Educating Communities. To those present, FMA and lay collaborators, to the Provincial of St. Mark’s Province (INE), Fr. Silvio Zanchetta, and to other representatives of the Salesian Family, Past Pupils, and Salesian Cooperators, Mother addressed a thought, pausing especially on the witness of peace offered by Sister Maria Troncatti, who will soon be canonized:<\/p>\n

“I emphasize some aspects that we would like to rediscover as an Institute: the strength of its maternal and the missionary character lived totally, up to the gift of her life, to be an instrument of peace and reconciliation between the Settlers and the Shuar. One of the most current messages that she can offer us in the historical moment we are living, is how much peace is threatened; the problem of peace is faced with the power of the weapons, but arrogance does not lead to peace. She, instead, starts from the heart and, while healing the wounds of the body, she tries to evangelize the soul, that is, to make people meet with the Lord, to make them feel the strength of His mercy.” <\/em>After the intervention of Mother, the Councilors also presented themselves, saying where they came from, in which sector they work, and leaving a brief thought.<\/p>\n

The next day began with a visit to the retirement home of Mary Help of Christians in Ros\u00e9, where Mother and the Councilors wanted to meet each Sister, including the sick ones in their rooms. In church, Mother Chiara shared a thought. <\/em>“It is important that each one keep in her heart that every one of us is a precious treasure always, from the moment when the Lord thought of us, called us to life, and chose us for consecrated life. We are a treasure for all that the Lord does in us and through us. Through the offering of your life and your prayer, we have the certainty that you sustain us and we face reality, that is not always easy, with the courage that comes to us from the grace of God, which you intercede for us.”<\/em><\/p>\n

In the afternoon, Mother and the Councilors reached Don Bosco community of Padua. The Educating Communities, with the Sisters and the laity, were present to be able to meet and know in person these sisters, who are usually seen in photos and on social media. <\/em>“Feeling close to them, seeing that they come from all over the world, makes us feel that we are part of a great family, united by the charism of Don Bosco and Mother Mazzarello,”<\/em> said a layman.<\/em><\/p>\n

Recalling the week of Spiritual Exercises lived in Cesuna, Mother Chiara thus thanked the Provincial for the invitation. “We have valued this time that the Lord has given us in a very beautiful place, where the beauty of nature and silence helped us to interiorize… now we are preparing to return ‘to Capernaum’. Meeting with you is part of this gradual descent from Tabor into daily life.”<\/em><\/p>\n

She then wanted to share the joy of the upcomingdell\u2019imminente Canonization of Sister Maria Troncatti<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, inviting everyone to participate on 19 October 2025, in this exceptional event. She then pointed out some characteristic traits, to help to grasp especially, “the daily aspect of holiness, typical of our charism, holiness is at hand. An ordinary woman who embarked on a journey in the totality of her gift, taking responsibility for her missionary vocation.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Another aspect highlighted is the dimension of motherhood in Sister Maria. “While I take care of you, I tell you something that helps you to live, to overcome difficulties, to open yourself to others.”<\/em> And she added, “The root of her courage lies in a relationship of total trust in the Lord, for this is always available; He never pulls back. She seeks to dialogue with the Colonists through personal contact, because peace is made with a patient weaving of relationships… and she especially turns to the women because women can reach the hearts of men, make them gentler.”<\/em> The feast ended with an exchange of gifts and a buffet open to everyone.<\/p>\n

On 29 June<\/strong>, with Holy Mass at the Shrine of San Leopoldo Mandic in Padua, the short visit ended. Some Provincial Councilors greeted Mother and the Council at the station, “Goodbye Mother! Good trip to all and thank you for being Sisters among your Sisters!”<\/em><\/p>\n
