East<\/strong> Timor and Indonesia. <\/strong>From 1 to 11 May 2025, Sister Leslie S\u00e1ndigo, General Councilor for the Salesian Family of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, made an animation visit to Saint Mary Domenica Mazzarello<\/em> Province (TIN).<\/p>\n

On 1 May,<\/strong> she was warmly welcomed in Jakarta, Indonesia by the FMA of Queen of Peace<\/em> Community, together with the local Educating Community. On 2 May<\/strong>, she met the Indonesian Salesian Family at the Wisma House of the Salesians of Don Bosco of\u00a0 Saint Luigi Versiglia<\/em> Preprovince (INA), which was attended by Salesians and FMA and Salesian Sisters from the Communities of Wisma and Tiga Raksa. In addition to the FMA of the communities Queen of Peace and Saint Mary Mazzarello, members of ADMA and Salesian Cooperators from Jakarta and Tiga Raksa were also present.<\/p>\n

Sister Leslie enthusiastically presented the identity of the Salesian Family as a wealth and contribution of each group to the Salesian mission, which together educates and evangelizes, at the service of the Church. She also expressed her gratitude for the local commitment to add color to the life of the Church in Indonesia, a Country where the Catholic religion is a minority.<\/p>\n

On 3 May,<\/strong> the Councilor arrived at the provincial headquarters of Dili Comoro, where the Temporary Professed FMA <\/strong>dressed her in traditional Timorese clothes and danced traditional dances, as a sign of welcome. The day continued with a meeting with the Temporary Professed and then with the members of the Provincial Council. The young FMA expressed that what she shared with them helped them to live the Salesian identity to serve with joy and humility. They understood that the Salesian charism is a precious gift of God that flourishes in the world and in the Church, and the need to build good relations with all, especially with the groups of the Salesian Family, open to the situations of today\u2019s reality.<\/p>\n

The next day<\/strong>, Sister Leslie met with members of the Salesian Family of Timor at John Paul II Center<\/em> in Comoro-Dili. The meeting began with the celebration of the Eucharist, presided by the Provincial of\u00a0 Saint Callisto Caravario <\/em>Province (TLS), Father Anacleto Pires. In the afternoon, she met the FMA Past-pupils at Mary\u00a0 Help of Christians<\/em>\u00a0 School in Comoro-Dili.<\/p>\n

The next day, on May 5<\/strong>, she visited the community of Blessed Maria Romero Meneses<\/em> of Kailaku, the Educating Community, and the pupils of the Saint Dominic Savio<\/em> Primary School, and the children and teachers of\u00a0 Mary Help of Christians<\/em> School. The following day<\/strong>, she continued with a visit to the production centers in Dili, meeting directly with the young people who work there and observing closely the reality of their working environment. In the afternoon, she met aspirants, postulants, and novices. The meeting ended with the prayer of the Rosary at the statue of Saint John Paul II in Tasi Tolu, where Pope Francis celebrated Mass in September 2024<\/span><\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

On 7 May<\/strong>, she visited the Salesian community in Dili Comoro, Saint John Bosco Community in Balide, and the Museum of Resistance of East Timor. In the evening, at\u00a0 Divine Providence Community of Comoro-Dili, she gave the Good Night to the girls of the Hostel, inviting the young women to strengthen their relationship with Our Lady and emphasizing the three characteristics of Sister Maria Troncatti: mother, missionary, and artisan of peace.<\/p>\n

On 8 May,<\/strong> she visited the Eastern communities: Saint Teresa of Avila<\/em> in Baucau, Blessed Laura Vicu\u00f1a<\/em> in Laga, and Mary Help of Christians <\/em>and Mary Mazzarello<\/em> in Venilale. In Laga, she met the girls of the orphanage and the FMA of the territory (Laga, Baucau, and Fuiluro), and while in Venilale, the pre-aspirants, the aspirants, the children of the orphanage, the girls of the school, and the students of the Technical Professional School.<\/p>\n

During her visit to Venilale, she also celebrated the Feast of Mother Mazzarello with two local communities. The next day, in Fatumaca, at the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians of the Salesians, she participated in the medal ceremony for the ADMA candidates, who are committed to living and imitating the virtues of Mary Help of Christians. In the evening, she returned to Dili and celebrated the feast of Mary Mazzarello with the Salesian Family from the area of Dili.<\/p>\n

On the last day of her visit, 10 May 2025<\/strong>, she held a meeting with the Animators in the morning and a meeting with the FMA of the Dili area in the afternoon. Lastly, the Mass of thanksgiving for her presence was followed by a festive evening in which all the communities of the Dili area participated, expressing their gratitude through theatrical performances, cultural dances, dialogues, and other forms of expression, according to the creativity of each Community.<\/p>\n

Before concluding, Sister Leslie left her message through a presentation entitled “Pilgrim of Hope”,<\/em> using the symbols of pilgrimage – the backpack, the sandals, the stick, water, bread, and wine – as metaphors of\u00a0 support for the journey to draw the source and strength to continue in God. “The Bible, the Word of God that we listen to, becomes our guide on the pilgrim\u2019s journey. With the light of God\u2019s Word, we will find the strength to face future steps and we will become lighter. Finally, we must not forget a very important figure for us: the rosary symbol of our Mother, Mary. Mary cannot be absent in our pilgrimages of life, because she is a faithful mother who never abandons us.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The FMA, the Educating Communities, and members of the Salesian Family expressed their gratitude for the visit of Sister Leslie, who brought the perfume of Salesianity: a living memory rich in the charismatic values of the Salesian mission.<\/p>\n
