Rome (Italy).<\/strong> The Superior General of the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Mother Chiara Cazzuola, opens Circular No. 104 recalling the World Feast of Gratitude<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, which is held in Tam Ha in Vietnam, on 26 April 2025, an appointment “that makes our being a family ever stronger and brings us back to the origins of the charism” and that has great educative value: “Educating and educating ourselves to say ‘thank you’ is the first act of recognition of God\u2019s love and of what our sisters and brothers, with whom we share life, are and do for us.”<\/em><\/p>\n

In this regard, Mother expresses her gratitude to the Vietnamese Province Mary Help of Christians, “who prepared<\/em> this festive event with care, love, and strong involvement.”<\/em><\/p>\n

In rendering choral gratitude, she unites with the joy of the confreres of the Salesian Congregation who on 12 April 2025<\/span><\/strong><\/a> concluded the 29th<\/sup> General Chapter, and wishes them “a fruitful journey in the six-year term, which opens with the guidance of the new Rector Major, Fr. Fabio Attard,”<\/em> assuring him and all the newly elected Councilors of their prayer, closeness, and collaboration.<\/p>\n

The Marian identity of the Institute<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mother Chiara recalls Circular no. 1047, relative to the recent text The Constitutions of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians <\/a><\/span><\/strong>: a journey of holiness in daily life<\/em>, reaffirming the importance that each Daughter of Mary Help of Christians personally receive a copy: “it is not just any book, but a sure guide to holiness, an aid for a vital deepening of the Constitutions, a support for communion, a concrete means that can help us to make our existence and our mission generative of life in the heart of the Church and the world.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Starting from this reference, she then deepens the aspect of Marian identity, which “characterizes, like a red thread, the various parts of the constitutional text”<\/em> and which, although expressing itself in a particular way in some articles, also touches the others, “like a brushstroke that gives the right color to the background of a masterpiece, or like the notes of a musical motif that is repeated with every passage, yet is always new.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Mother then goes deeply into the two Marian articles by definition:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Article 4<\/strong>, which refers to the founding experience of the Institute, in which Mary is present, who invites Don Bosco to take care of poor girls whom She considers as her daughters, to contribute, in the Church, to the salvation of young women and men through education. “Mary is, therefore, inspirer, Mother, and Teacher, for this reason we can say that the Institute \u2018belongs entirely to Mary’. In fact, it experiences Her maternal and preventive care, not only at the beginning, but throughout its history of yesterday and today”,<\/em> affirms Mother.<\/p>\n

Article 44<\/strong>, expresses another conviction of Don Bosco, “It is Mary who guides us.”<\/em> Quoting the article – “In Mary, the Immaculate Help of Christians, let us contemplate the fullness of self-giving to God and neighbor.”<\/em> Mother focuses on two connotations of Mary that deeply touch the identity and mission of the FMA: the Immaculate<\/strong> “recalls the preventive pedagogy of God and the dynamism of love, which has the immense power to open the hearts of young people to His grace. The Help of Christians<\/strong> is the defense of children and the poor; she is the care of a mother who takes by the hand, feeds, guides, educates, shapes, and supports the growth of life.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Mother and Educator<\/strong><\/p>\n

Reviewing other articles of the Constitutions, brings out the aspects of Mother and Educator<\/strong> of She who “accompanies us on the path of configuration to Christ and helps us to direct our lives to Him”<\/em> and , as the first disciple of Christ, “embraced with total dedication the kind of chaste, poor, obedient life (…), thus realizing in the most perfect way the following of Christ.”<\/em><\/p>\n

In fact, the three evangelical counsels reflect Her total adherence to the will of God, to be the Mother of the Redeemer and of all humanity, to take Her example to be docile to the Holy Spirit and to intensify, through prayer and listening, “our communion with God and be open to Christ\u00a0 present in our sisters and brothers and in every reality”<\/em> (C 37).<\/p>\n

Mary with us and in us \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Don Bosco dreamed of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians as a “living monument of gratitude to Mary Help of Christians,”<\/em> that is, as her “living memory”<\/em> or, according to the expression of Mother Mazzarello, who is the first stone of this monument, “true images of Our Lady,”<\/em> daughters that reflect in themselves the physiognomy of the Mother.<\/p>\n

For this reason, Mother Chiara emphasizes, “It is up to each of us to highlight in our own lives the features of Mary\u2019s face to be her living memory today, to respond to God\u2019s call, and make the charism more vital in the Church and in the world.”<\/em><\/p>\n

She, therefore, addresses an explicit invitation to all the FMA and Educating Communities to reappropriate with new vigor, the Marian paradigm in education.<\/strong> As an Educative Institute, she appeals to us\u00a0 to “take Mary home”<\/em>, that is, to be inspired by Her in the educative mission expressing the conviction that, in a technological scenario in constant change, “there will be no new humanism without a solid Marian spirituality articulated in education, capable of reanimating, regenerating life and hope in the perspective of the Gospel.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Mother ends the Circular with the wish “to be strongly in tune with Mary, to love her with hearts of true daughters, and to make some aspect of her beauty and of her maternal solicitude shine in our life,”<\/em> to be her “living memory”<\/em> in today\u2019s history.<\/p>\n

And she concludes with the request to continue to invoke the gift of peace for the whole world and to support with prayer and offering “the communities sorely tried by war, by violence and injustice, by natural disasters, by ever new forms of poverty.<\/em><\/p>\n

To Mary, Mother of the Risen One, we entrust all people, especially children, young people, and families who live in situations of distress and who are waiting for a better, more human future in solidarity.”<\/em><\/p>\n
