Rome (Italy). Professor Alessandra Smerilli, member of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians Institute, Professor of Economics at the Pontifical Faculty of Education “Auxilium” in Rome, receives the honor of Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy for  teaching and research activities.

This recognition rewards those who have earned merit in promoting friendship and collaborative relationships between Italy and other countries and in promoting ties with Italy.

“The awarding of the honor – reads the press release – intends to recognize the absolute relevance of the academic profile and the intense teaching and research activity as well as the commitment to promoting greater ethical awareness in economics and finance.

Professor Smerilli is a Councilor in the Pontifical Commission for the Vatican City State, Coordinator of the Economics Task-force of the Vatican Commission for Covid-19, and holds positions in civil society and in Italian institutions, areas in which she concretizes her professionalism and competence in offering an important contribution to the development of the study of the Italian civil economy.

The Order of the Star of Italy, established by the Law of February 3, 2011, is an honor granted by the President of the Republic, on the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Order is divided into five classes: Knight of the Grand Cross, Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight. There is also a special class of Grand Cross of Honor, intended for those who have lost their lives or suffered severe physical disabilities in carrying out activities of high humanitarian value abroad.

The FMA Institute congratulates Professor Alessandra Smerilli for this recognition and wishes her to continue to make her commitment in teaching and research a service to young people, to the Church, to Italy, and to the world.
