Cantalpino (Spain). On September 29, 2019, the inauguration of Sr. Eusebia Palomino Spiritualty Center  took place at Cantalpino, Spain. The devotees and faithful of the Blessed arrived at the birth place of Blessed Eusebia Palomino with various carriages and cars from Madrid, Salamanca, and Béjar.  Little by little, the surroundings of the birth house and the parish became a place of encounter, a place to share stories that the elders of the village knew about Sr. Eusebia and her family.

The day began with the Eucharistic Celebration presided by the Salesian Fr. Eugenio Alburquerque in the parish Church that holds the baptismal font where Sr. Eusebia was baptized.  Fr. Eugenio explained how moving it is for him because he attributes to the prayer of intercession of the Blessed the cure of a serious illness.  Concelebrating together with him, were Fr. Samuel Segura, Provincial Vicar of Santiago el Mayor, and the Directors of the Salesian houses of Salamanca.

A Castilian Mass was accompanied by dulzaina and tamboril and by a group of women and girls from the country dressed in charro costumes. At the end of the Eucharist, Sister Elisabetta Perez, Provincial Vicar, relayed to all present the words of closeness of the Mother General of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, Sister Yvonne Reungoat. She expressed gratitude to the Authorities, Architects, technicians, the construction company, and above all, to all the Entities and benefactors who in different ways collaborated in the realization of the Spirituality Center as well as to all the Salesian Communities of the School of Salamanca that supported this dream.

After Mass, there was the first pilgrimage led by the image of the Blessed, from the parish to the plaza dedicated to Sr. Eusebia, where her house of birth is found and the new Spirituality center.  The text was read written by Francisco López Celador, son of the town, nephew of Sr. Caridad, Salesian, and friend of Sister Eusebia, who is widely quoted in her letters.

“We raise in this square that already bears her name, a Salesian place of affirmation that keeps alive the memory of our compatriot and, at the same time, becomes a lighthouse that illuminates a new pilgrimage path: the one that leads to the Spirituality Center “Sister Eusebia Palomino” in the Cantalpino.

In these Castilian lands we will talk about the Way of Santiago, the routes of the Saint of Ávila and, from today, of the road that leads to the house where the Salesian was born of whom so much is said, because she lived and died as a saint. At the end of that road, from today, there will be a new Salesian house. In addition to this ‘hut’, which saw the birth of Sister Eusebia, there will be places of accommodation and pastoral work, with a chapel so that those who wish may speak of themselves to the Lord, to Mary Help of Christians, and to Sister Eusebia.” These were the words of the Proclamation that welcomed the desire that Cantalpino be a new place of pilgrimage.

A proclamation that in the last words was able to interpret the desire of all, as today the joyful and simple holiness of this Daughter of Mary Help of Christians challenges us. If it is not too much to ask, give us a hand and grant us the grace to be able to attend your canonization. How beautiful it will be to hear: “Sister Eusebia Palomino, the saint of Cantalpino,” words that have also aroused applause.

The activities were completed with the blessing of the new premises, which consist of a chapel, a museum, and another small upper room, in addition to the existing ones: the birthplace and the rooms available for housing and pastoral activities and a chapel.
