Sr. Silvia was born in Montevideo (Uruguay) on March 6, 1963. She has a twin brother and that made her say that she "learned community life from the time she was in the womb." From childhood she knew the FMA and received her religious formation.
Enthusiastic about the Salesian charism, she soon became part of the Salesian Youth Movement and became an animator. In this context she felt the Lord's call to follow Him more closely. She made her first religious profession in Villa Colón (Uruguay) on January 24, 1985.
She attended a normal school and taught for five years, during which time she animated the scholastic ministry and also worked in the oratory. She paid particular attention to the advancement of poor women, and closely and passionately accompanied young people in situations of hardship and risk. She completed her preparation as formator and for ten years accompanied young people in various stages who felt the call to the consecrated life as FMA aspirants, postulants, and juniors.
With the community she animated the parish of "San Lorenzo" in Montevideo, that had been entrusted to the FMA by the Archbishop. It was a parish that had been animated by religious for 35 years. In 2008 she participated in General Chapter XXII. It was her first Chapter experience. Elected by the Assembly as Visiting Councilor, Sr. Silvia accepted the mandate and quoted the words of Mother Mazzarello, recalling the courage that she infused in her Sisters leaving in the first missionary expedition precisely to Uruguay. She added: "I trust in God and I thank you all, and to my Sisters in Uruguay, the land where the first missionaries arrived, I say have courage."
During General Chapter XXIII, she was asked to continue her mandate as Visiting Councilor for another six years. Sr. Silvia responded to the invitation of Mother Yvonne saying: “With a renewed heart, I trust in our saints, in Mary, in the prayers of all of you, promising to be always new, to grow in communion, to go to the heart of the peripheries. I accept. "
