Sr. Chantal was born in Byahi-Goma (Dem. Rep. of Congo) December 31, 1967 and lived her childhood and youth in a united and happy family. The family later moved to the nearby Rwanda. She entered the Institute in 1988 and lived the first years of formation in the "Notre Dame d'Afrique" (AFC) based in Lubumbashi. She made her first vows in Kafubu in 1992.
In the early years of her Salesian life she generously lent her service in community activities, expressing a strong capacity for self-giving and the caring attention for each person. Young people and Sisters easily gathered where she was, attracted by her gentleness, manners, and depth.
Sent to Italy to complete her studies she obtained a Licentiate in Education - Catechetics - at the "Auxilium". On her return to Africa, she was sent to Kigali (Rwanda), that belonged to the Province "Our Lady of Hope" (AFE) based in Nairobi (Kenya). Here she devoted herself to the service of catechesis, and was a teacher and assistant to the orphan girls. Among girls and young women who had suffered from the consequences of the war, Sister Chantal had the opportunity of demonstrating her ability to welcome everyone, with her motherliness and self-giving beyond measure. Later, she was the director of the same school, while continuing the task of teacher.
In 2008 she was appointed Mistress of Novices in the Interprovincial Novitiate in Nairobi-Mutuini. In the same province of east Africa she was entrusted with the task of Provincial Vicar and, later, that of provincial.
The Chapter Assembly of General Chapter XXIII asked her to take on the task of Visiting Councilor. When asked about her acceptance by Mother, Sister Chantal said, "I felt fear when I heard my name repeated frequently, but I was told:" You are not alone. "I felt in me the voice of the Lord: "I will be with you always." With this assurance, and sure of the presence of Mary Help of Christians, accept it and move ahead, also for your confidence. "
