At the beginning of the community Laura Vicuna - Kasama -Zambia the sisters became aware that lot of young girls used to stay home after they have failed their grade 7 (primary school) as they were not qualified to go to Grade 8.
The sisters decided to take care of them and give them some more formations so taht they can be able to rewrite again and continue with the secobdary school. This was the way that they will prevent then to follow pregnant early and to get married early. And so it became a place of education as well as evangelisation.
From there was initiated the present Laura Girls' secondary school which is well known in Zambia.
We have now 500 girls getting their instruction from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
Lot of parents which to bring their girls to our school as it is one of the best in the Northen province of Zambia.
This is the third year we have openned a hostel for 48 girls. This becomes as well a fundraising means for our community.
Challenges we are facinbg is that, either for daily school as for the hostels there are a lot parents who apply in order to bring their daughter to us, but we do not have enough space to welcome all.
In addition there are other problems affecting our young in their jouerney of faith, they coming from differetns religions, the materialism, satanism and witchcraft, broken families.
We keep trying to find way in accompaniment of our girls.
Thanks and happy Easter.

AFM PROVINCE-MAPUTSOE - LESOTHO COMMUNITY

AFM PROVINCE- MAPUTSOE LESOTHO COMMUNITY FEEDBACK ON THE PROPOSAL IN PREPARATION FOR THE FEAST OF GRATITUDE 2013 YESTERDAY We recognise that seeds of faith were planted in our lives since we were very young. People like our parents, grandparents, extended family and friends with their words and their attitudes contributed in planting those seeds that because of our answer some of them have developed into something big and others because of our weakness remain there.....but there are still living seeds ready to sprout at any time. TODAY CHALLENGES The challenges come more from within ourselves as sometimes we give priority to our “busyness” more than creating an interior environment where faith can growth. Sometimes we like to live in between the better of the two worlds which brings confusion in our lives and not a great commitment to our religious life. TOMORROW Personal witness of what we profess is essential in transmitting the faith. Coherence , convictions , passion and a positive attitude towards what is HOLY and CATHOLIC will bring us a renovate joy in passing on our faith to the new generations.
